Group 48 Holiday Potluck & Write-a-thon

Write for Rights is Amnesty International’s annual global letter writing marathon. Every December, Amnesty supporters write millions of messages for people whose basic human rights are under attack.

Date: Friday, December 12, 2014

Time: 7:30-9pm (set up starts at 7:00pm)

Location: Buchan Building at First Unitarian Church (church map)
1011 SW 12th Ave, Portland, OR

What to bring:

  • Food (an appetizer, main dish or dessert)
  • Drinks
  • Utensils, plates, cups, napkins
  • Greeting cards (non-religious and non-Amnesty cards)
  • Paper for letter writing
  • Envelopes
  • $1.15 stamps (international postage)
  • 49-cent stamps (domestic postage)
  • Copies of the AIUSA Write for Rights cases (case sheets and/or sample letters)

  1. Will bring roast and maybe fried chicken, salad fixings and maybe a surprise dish or two. along with a bag of pens and $10 for stamps.

  2. I can bring 2 books of domestic stamps. I’m not sure if I’ll be able to bring food, but if I can it will be in the dessert category.

  3. 10-15 of us at must will be attending, it is a small high school Amnesty Club. We’re going to try and bring some of everything that is on the list :)

  4. P.S. Just a reminder to bring return address labels if you have them – it can speed up the time you spend addressing cards and letters.
